We actually put money into the bank this week instead of pulling money out. Are we in the home stretch? I can only hope. I’m dying to get to that point where we know that the business is paying our bills, and at the same time have enough in reserve that we aren’t holding our breath. I think we’re getting closer…
In addition to the income report, I plan to do a write up on the new niche site as well as some tests I’ve run on hosting providers. So it looks like you will get at least 3 blog posts this month!

A New Niche Site
All-righty. I am officially ready to do a write up on this niche site and explain what I’ve done to get these numbers. It’s going to be a full post of its own. For now, just feast your eyes on this graph. (click to enlarge)
It made about $580 in July, so I’m really optimistic that I will see $1,000 from it next month.
Now, I need 10 more of these sites, and I’ll be set…
By September 1st, I want this site to have 100 pages. That would be 50 affiliate-focused pages, and 50 how-to and informational pages. I also plan to do some youtube videos for the site. In addition, I joined a forum related to this niche, yesterday, so I’m hoping to drive a trickle of traffic that way.
Products are back in stock. Yay! The last one came in this morning so I can start selling again. It’s tough when 1/5 of your site is “out of stock”. Lesson learned? Get more suppliers.
I am optimistic that within 2 days I will have the site moved to its new home and away from Shopify. This moves me away from their expensive monthly hosting fee, and also lets me set individual shipping prices for each item.
As I mentioned last month, I think this move is going to let me capture a lot more market share.
I’ve also landed two more suppliers for the site, and in negotiations with a 3rd, (meaning, I call and leave a voicemail and every so often they call back or email and say “yeah, that sounds great!” and then never send me what I need to get rolling.) I also have a couple more scoped out that I plan to contact right after the relaunch.
I’ve set the goal of having 500 products on the ecommerce site by September 1.
Hold me to it.
After whining about a lazy month (and getting rightfully chided for it on Matthew Woodward’s income roundup) I decided I needed to kick things in gear.
I really shouldn’t share this secret. But then, it’s tough enough that few people will actually do it.
You need two things:
- e.ggtimer.com/15 minutes
Every 15 minutes I write down what I accomplished or what project I was on. I’ve learned that A) it takes me 2 hours to write a blog post, not 1.5 like I used to think, and B) I actually only work about 4 hours per day.
The last 2 weeks I’ve been able to re-align my goals and, and the same time, start recognizing and deleting distractions from my life to boost the hours of true productivity.
I mean, heck, if I’m not really going to work at this, I may as well go back and get a J-O-B…
Try it. You, too, will be appalled.
I have a Car Problem
Inspired by Ryan over at Recraigslist.com, I find myself browsing Craigslist more than I should. Then I found this saweeet Cadillac for $1,000 that needed a new radiator.
Well shoot, anybody can replace a radiator! So I drove the 2 miles over and gave the guy $1,000 (all in $20 bills) and limped the car home.
It was a fun project, and 3 weeks later, after fixing a variety of problems, I sold it to a family member and pocketed a little cash for my time. (Think my profit ran about $600 on that one).
Last night I picked up a minivan. It’s going to be a more in-depth project, but I think I can probably walk away with close to $1,000 in profit after about 3 weeks.
I’m not counting these cars in my income report. For me, these are more or less a way for me to step away from the computer and actually do something with my hands. Plus, they help pad the bank account.
In addition, I’ve flipped a few other things. I bought a washer for $40 and sold it for $80. And one of those Chuck Norris Total Gym’s that I bought for $25 and resold to Play It Again Sports for $75 ( I know, it was worth more, but I was tired of it sitting on my floor).
There’s more than one way to make a living at home…
Amazon: $1911.97 (Highest month, yet!)
3rd Party Affiliate: $50.00
Ecommerce: $0 (Big frowny face)
Total: $2649.41 (second highest month! -$220.51 behind top.)
Thank God It’s Monday
Have you seen these yet? This is the best use of youtube since nyan cat.
Don’t forget to like his page on facebook to get them each week.
